Paradise of Love and Pain is a depiction of real life drama prevalent in and outside the church in today’s society, featuring stories of romance between married couples and pastors, something society frowns on, yet it happens everywhere, everyday. Wow! Great novel. Very impressed. You touched most aspects of life, especially in our then beloved country. From religion, cheating spouses, fake pastors, politics, culture to traditions, just to mention a few……👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. And of course romance. Some of your love scenes were very explicit. R rated. Lol!!!😆😆😆.
    You did well! 👏.
Congratulations!!!! and more grease to your elbow. 🦾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾👌🏾

I just completed reading the book. It’s an interesting story, very detailed though with a tragic ending.Couldn’t stop reading it at some point. I particularly sympathized with poor Ellen and George for the traumatizing treatment they experienced when their moms brought in their boyfriends. I was curious to see what will happen to Tom after all the atrocities but before I knew it, it was the end. I enjoyed the book though.
My question is, if the charm was effective and did work on Lydia, why was she still able to cheat on Tom?

  3. Ernest Kaninjing

Set in the early 1990’s Paradise of Love and Pain sheds light on contemporary Cameroonian society. The novel is a captivating, free-flowing prose riddled with metaphors and proverbs reflective of the Cameroonian landscape. A plot (and sub-plots) steeped in deceit, conflict, intrigue and retribution is unraveled via characters as complex as the society it portrays. Full of surprise and suspense the novel captivates the reader from the first page and leaves you with unanswered questions at its conclusion. Highly recommended for High School literature students in Cameroon.
