Masafumi Nagao

Masafumi Nagao is a visiting Professor and Program Adviser, United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability, and Professor Emeritus, Hiroshima University. He was Project Professor of the University of Tokyo, Graduate Program in Sustainability Science-Global Leadership Initiative (2012-2015).  He has held previous professorial positions at ICU (2008-2013) and Hiroshima University (1998-2008). He specializes in program evaluation, development cooperation and education for sustainable development in Africa. He has been serving since 2008 as Coordinator of the UNU Project on Education for Sustainable Development in Africa (ESDA), an inter-university collaboration project of 8 African universities for graduate-level training of professionals in the areas of integrated rural development, sustainable urban development and mining and minerals development.
